This is a view of La Desirade taken from the hills above it. You can see how it is situated abut 500 metres from the lovely bay. Juan-les-Pins is to the left and Antibes is in the distance in this picture.
Golfe-Juan is a typical French Provencale town. It is not just a resort but a normal non-tourist place where ordinary people live.
There are tennis courts and a fitness centre within 250 yds of the apartment. The beaches have both free and paying sections. There is water skiing and para-sailing from the beaches, as well as local hire of sailing boats and wind-surfers. The Theatre de la Mer holds night-time events, concerts and shows.
There is a pedestrian tunnel to allow safe access to the beaches to avoid traffic. There are twice weekly main markets in Golfe-Juan and a night time market Golfe-Juan in summer to stroll around after dinner. Boat trips leave from the harbour to go to Monte-Carlo, Ile Ste. Marguerite (where the Man in the Iron Mask was imprisoned), Nice and St. Tropez. Because there are good bus, boat and train connections you don’t need to have a car to explore the area, although a car makes a lot of things more accessible. Juan les Pins/Antibes is about 1 mile away if you want smart shops, night clubs and a casino.
